What is considered "completing a contract" before one qualifies for a free device upgrade?

We are ~18 months through a 2-yr contract (on an older phone) and are interested in upgrading to the 4 Pro phone for our now-teenage daughter. However, the wording on the upgrade program is a little vague: how close to the end of the contract does one need to be before qualifying for a free device upgrade? A mere 25% discount on a $200 phone is not exactly incenting us to upgrade to a more expensive plan with Gabb.

    This is a great question! You can upgrade your device at any time, and you may qualify for a free upgrade, depending on the current status of your contract, and what contract you sign up for on your new device. To qualify for a free device, you must complete your current contract.

    When your line is on a 2-year contract, the completed contact date will be exactly 2 years after the day the line was activated. For example, if you line was activated on April 10th, 2025, your contract end date will be April 10th, 2027. You can find the contract end date by logging into your MyAccount > select Dashboard > select View Details on the desired device > next to Total Monthly Bill you will see "Contract Ends".
