Can we upgrade to a new device and only get the 1-year contract?

When we were purchasing the phone for the upgrade, we had the option to select a 1-year contract but when we got the phone and started the upgrade process we were only given the option of a 2-year contract. Is this a bait and switch situation or can we actually get the 1-year contract like we selected when purchasing the phone?

This is a great question! A few scenarios could be happening in this situation. I'd be happy to help explain!

If your device is currently in an uncompleted 2-year contract, upgrading to a new device will restart your current contract to avoid a cancelation fee. Jumping from an uncompleted 2-year contract and starting a 1-year contract would involve canceling the current contract and paying the cancelation fee.
