Data throttle? Phone/texts don’t work?
my daughter has Gabb phone 3 pro.
she likes to listen to the music…. I assume this is what absorbs the data usage and then a week into the cycle I get a message saying her data is throttled.
My question is though, now, she’s down the street with her friends, and I call and it goes straight to voicemail. I text, and she doesn’t get them - until she comes home and connnects to WiFi.
Is this because her data is throttled? Or is it because Verizon service absolutely sucks in my area?
If throttled, I’m a little flabbergasted that $30-40 a month only gets me half a gig of unthrottled data….
I like the safety features, but If I can’t contact her and she can’t contact me outside of WiFi area that’s a problem.
Worse is it’s impossible to find how to contact anybody from Gabb about this besides this forum?

Data throttle means that after reaching an allocated data amount on a plan (or package), data is then significantly slowed for that line. For example, a Gabb Phone Plan - Advanced has 3GB of data. Once data usage in a billing cycle (month) has reached 3GB, they will be throttled, and their data availability significantly reduced and slowed.
What does throttling impact and what does it not impact?
- Impacted: Data. Items like the following would be signividcaly impacted/reduced:
- MMS (group and image messaging)
- Apps that use data
- Not impacted:
- Standard voice call
- Standard SMS
- Non data related functions
If you are experiencing trouble with the standard SMS texting when the lines data is throttled, follow these troubleshooting steps:
- Open Settings App -> System -> Reset Options ->
Reset Wifi & Bluetooth
- Open Settings App -> System -> Reset Options -> Reset App Preferences ->
Reset Apps
Network Reset

How troubleshoot excessive data use:
- Keep the device connected to WiFi as often as possible
- Keep an eye on which apps are using the most data
- Settings > Connections > Data Usage > Mobile Data Usage
- Add more data to your plan
- This is done through your Gabb Account online at gabb.com/account - navigate to the device in question and change the plan from the Gabb Phone Plan - Advanced 3GB of data, to the Gabb Phone Plan - Advanced 5GB, or Gabb Phone Plan - Advanced 10GB

- Go to Gabb.com and select the "Chat With Us!" live-chat feature in the bottom right hand corner
