Can't uninstall Gabb Go app

Hi I'm a new Gabb watch customer.

There is an native app on my daughter's watch that involves feeding and caring for a digital pet.

I tried to remove this app because its purpose seems antithetical to the point of giving my child technology for the point of communication with us only.

Is there really no way to remove this app? It's also stressing her out because she thinks the digital animal will die if she doesn't feed it. Thanks!

    Hi @baverso,

The Gabb Watch 3 comes with a pre-installed app called Gabb Go. Gabb Go lets your child care for a virtual pet, including a dog, octopus, axolotl, or unicorn. You can use Gabb Go to set a daily step goal for your child. When tasks are completed, the child earns coins to help in taking care of the virtual pet. This teaches responsibility and creates excitement in accomplishing goals!

A user does not have the ability to delete or remove the Gabb Go app from the Gabb Watch 3 at this time. You can learn more about this feature in our Gabb Go Help Article.

    Thank you for your question!

I bought the Gabb watch for my son because I wanted to give him the independence to roam the neighborhood while still being able to stay in touch with him. We’ve been happy customers for months until tonight at dinner when I see him playing a game on his watch — something we never would have allowed him to install.

I confronted him and he showed me “Gabb Go” — a game that comes preinstalled on the watch and apparently can’t be uninstalled I understand that you don’t market it as an game, but I consider it a game and I wouldn’t have bought your device had I know this was permanently installed on it.

when I asked him not to play it, he seemed bothered and said that the pet looks really sad and unhealthy if he doesn’t regularly check in on it. It baffles me that — given how you position your products — you’d choose to put an intentionally addictive game on the device! That’s exactly what all of your customers are trying to avoid!

You really missed the mark in this one. Prior to this discovery. I was a happy customer that gladly believed that you had all the right controls in place so that I could let me son use your device unconditionally. I had recommended you to several friends.

I will now be looking into alternatives devices that are safe and not actively trying to get my children addicted to technology. At the very least, I expect you’ll offer a way to remove the app in your next update.

    Hello @Gavbdids,

Thank you for this post. It has been merged into this one as others have asked a similar question. We appreciate your feedback and sharing your experience.

We're sorry for any frustration or concern the Gabb Go feature has caused for you and your family. As stated above, this feature is designed to teach responsibility with a child through step goals and completing tasks. We have expressed this concern to our team to look into a potential update in the future.

    Thank you!
