Gabb Maps

Gabb Maps is not loading any of the information/map. I've deleted and reinstalled it as well…nothing changes. I'd like to see an update also with being able to download offline maps (similar to Google Maps). Can you explain if there is a bug or glitch going on?

    Hello @BluCrusher14,

    Great question and feedback! The Gabb Maps app currently functions off WiFi only. For best use of the app, ensure your device is connected to a secure home WiFi source.

    Here are some troubleshooting steps to help get your app up and working:

    1. Update Gabb Phone 4 Pro:
      1. Navigate to the Knox E Fota app and check for updates
      2. Google Play Store app and tap the circle in the top right > Manage Apps and Devices > The second line should say "All apps up to date" or "Download/install updates."
    2. Resets to Gabb Phone 4 Pro:
      1. Open Settings App -> General Management -> Reset -> Reset all settings
      2. Open Settings App -> General Management -> Reset -> Reset mobile network settings
      3. Open Settings App -> General Management -> Reset -> Reset Wifi & Bluetooth settings
      4. Open Settings App -> General Management -> Reset -> Reset accessibility settings

    Ensure you have connected back to WiFi before testing the Gabb Maps again. Hope this troubleshooting helps!

    The Maps is still not showing all of the details. There is a problem with the app as I've gone through all of the steps you've provided. Could you send in a request to have this checked out and roll out an update?

    Hi!.. we got a refurbished replacement phone through GABB. It is a 4 Pro.
    Does anyone else have the issue that maps and Weather does not work no matter what you try to do? I’ve been on the phone with Gabb many times and they can’t seem to fix it.
    They are telling me that this is a “known issue” and that they are working to fix it, but it has been a long long time. I am feeling like the issue is with the phone itself and need a new one, because this wasn’t an issue with our first one. Gabb customer support tells me that it is across the board with the 4 Pros, but I know of two other people that have them, and do not have this issue.Does anyone else have this problem? Thanks so much for your help! Paying to have things that don’t work is very frustrating!

    I've noticed the same problem with the Here We Go map app as well and since Gabb Maps uses their engine I suspect Here We Go is having the same problem as well.

    we are having the same problem with my daughter’s gab phone. The gab maps does not work no data loads on the app just a blank screen. Any update on a resolution?

    I've also noticed that the Weather Channel app's radar isn't working either or anything else with a map. Gabb, are we having a GPS related issue maybe? Please help us fix this!

    I noticed that a message came up that stated that Gabb Map isn't compatible with the android on the Pro 4.

    This is beyond frustrating! Navigation while your driving teen is going from one place to another is essential! I have spent over 6 hours on the phone (mostly on hold) trying to get this issue resolved. If this dumb thing doesn't work by the end of the week I am starting the return process.

    Recently got a Gabb Phone 4 Pro for my kids. We are trying to get the map app usable. Noticed that there was an issue being “worked on.” Any solution yet? App has been enabled, but opens up completely blank and won’t “look up” any address. Thanks.

    I've also noticed that apps that have maps like the Weather Channel app weather radar is blank and some of the flight (Southwest etc) apps keep saying that GPS cannot be found so it doesn't allow me to search based on my location. Is Gabb having a GPS issue with the Gabb Phone Pro 4?

    I have had several GABB devices for years. None of them have ever worked with the map. I have reached out, sending screenshots and asking questions but have had zero response. I used to live in Salt Lake County and now in Utah County- neither location works. For months it said my kid was in the middle of the ocean. Then it will randomly have a location from months ago. This functionality is one of the most important facets of child technology.

    If it were one device that struggled, I could understand. If Gabb replied to help rectify it or acknowledge it, I could understand. If it was for a certain time period while updates were being worked on, I could understand.

    I am saddened by the many troubles I have had navigating this and without and improvement. :(

    Is there anything being done?

    I am here after searching for help on this too. I am trying to use the Fahlo App, which works off of a map view. I am unable to see any maps at all, just blank screens. I hope there is a fix soon!

    I have a brand new gab phone 4 pro with the plan that allows 1000s of apps. I have strong wifi at my house. Today is 12/25/2024.

    The gabb maps does not work - it is blank.

    Same issue with maps failing to load any data despite new phone (4 Pro) and wifi connection.

    Same here. Got two kids Gabb Phone Pro 4's for Christmas. Glad we didn't make anything more than a monthly commitment to this thing at this point. Not much that you'd rightly expect to work works right and consistently.

    Maps only work on WiFi? What in the world sense does that make? Here's an interactive map of the world, but it won't work outside the house. Hello MapQuest :/

    Maps don't load due to a known for months bug.

    Can't manage contacts without manually inputting them because the "from child's contact list" never shows any contacts, then often ends up with duplicates (that if you delete one, they both disappear).

    Don't get notifications of "Requests" (texts from yet to be approved contacts) to our app when logged perfectly well on the Gabb phone. The child can then read the full text message sent to them in the "Requests"???

    Not sure I feel any more protected, but rather hamstrung and frustrated. Where's the Quality Assurance and Control?

    Maybe support could post a list of known issues, or at least put them in the internal knowledge base that the support assistant bot is leveraging so it's LLM would let the customer know it's a known issue Gabb is working on and NOT direct us to documentation that won't help because of a bug.

    Same here. Quite disappointing that most features we bought these phones specifically for don't work like one would expect, if they work at all.

    Having the same issue. Followed all of the directions mentioned above with no resolution. This is our first time with the Gabb phone and will be the last if this continues. This is month #3 with no updates.

    Map Quest and Waze are the only apps that seems to work with a map at this time but be warned that Map Quest can also eat a lot of data if you use it on a long trip. Gabb please fix the other map Apps so we can conserve data.

    I followed some of the steps set out early in this thread. The Knox E-FOTA shows that I have a Gabb Phone 3 Pro. I ordered a Gabb Phone 4 Pro on December 27, 2024, and all the packaging says 4 Pro. What is going on? Could this be a problem?
    I have also had an issue installing apps, it just says “an error occurred enabling the app”.

    new phone—this doesn’t work. Customer service told me they were unaware of anything. I see “it’s being worked on” but that was a couple months ago. Any update Gabb?

    My daughter received her Gabb Phone 4 Pro last summer (August 2024) - the maps app worked for a short time and was great! However, it has been out of commission for months now. We have tried all of the troubleshooting options but the app remains unusable. For reference, when you open the maps app it simply shows a blue dot and a search bar, no location indicators (See images below).

    *Having same issue with GabbMaps-Error saying: "NO RESULTS FOUND, TRY ANOTHER SEARCH, OFFLINE"

    *Having same issue with having to manually entering ALL Approved Contacts

    *Having same issue with Knox saying it's a Gabb 3 Pro, when it's supposed to be a Gabb 4 Pro

    *New issue- some apps that I HAVE approved will not load on the Gabb phone (ex: '24Games' math game app) It says to load it on the Google Play store after it has been approved, but the Google Play Store doesn't show that app, so I can't load it

    *New issue- Spam numbers AND UNAPPROVED phone numbers CAN STILL CALL the Gabb phone..the only way to prevent this is to block the number on the Gabb phone AFTER they have already called..so what is the point of approving contacts if unapproved people can still call in?

    Have called Customer Support several times, they don't know why the maps app wont work or why the game app wont load or why Knox is saying its a Gabb 3..have yet to get this resolved...Very frustrated, beginning to wonder if I shouldn't have started my child off with a different first/beginner phone.

    Hi,

    The Knox E-fota app says the Gabb Phone 4 Pro is a "3 Pro" because they both use the same lockdown (Knox) "campaign". The only difference I'm aware of is the hardware and that the 3 Pro uses Android 13 (the 4 pro is Android 14). This does not have anything to do with the broken Gabb Maps app.

    I am also having the same problem with Gabb Maps, it seems to be an app glitch that Gabb will need to push an update for.

    I charged up my old Gabb Phone Pro (Galaxy A10e) the other night and even though the phone is inactive it can still access the maps just fine as long as I am on Wi-Fi. I am able to search for a place and it finds it just like my current phone used to do. What is it with that older phone vs my Gabb Phone 4 Pro? Is Knox locking down the GPS uplink on the new phones so the ap can't find us and just says "Offline"? I notice that every app on my Gabb Phone 4 Pro that has a map component of some kind will stall out like Gabb Maps but Waze (Google Maps based) and Mapquest are fine.

    Any thoughts Gabb Techies?

    Meanwhile my Gabb Phone Pro continues to be able to use the maps.
