Why is mobile data needed?

If the phone cannot access the internet or social media apps, what is Mobile Data used for? I am trying to determine which plan to get and am stumped on this.

Is Mobile Data needed for accurate GPS tracking when not somewhere that connects to wifi? Is it needed to send/receive calls and texts? Why would the advanced plan with mobile data be needed?

This is a great question! Thank you for asking.

You are correct, Gabb phones don’t have an internet browser or open internet access. Important phone updates and most approved apps need WiFi. Mobile data is used when WiFi isn’t available. It’s also used for things like sending picture messages (MMS) and allowing approved apps to work.

When WiFi is available, the Gabb phone will use mobile data. When WiFi is not available, mobile data takes over so features keep working.

If mobile data is turned off, calls and regular texts (SMS) will still work, but picture messages and apps may not until the phone reconnects to WiFi.
