More than 1 parent with the Gabb Messenger Parent app?

Hello:

My wife and I Just Got a Gabb pro 4 phone for our son. She set up the device and paired it with her phone — the my Gabb app and messenger.

For me — she put me as a guardian, and I can locate and call the Gabb phone from the my Gabb app. (I created my own username and PW)

However, when I downloaded the Gabb Messenger Parent app - I logged in with my own username and PW and it states 'no phone associated with parent account'.

I guess, in short, can I be assigned as a parent as well? Or does gabb only allow 1 parent to be paired with the phone?

Thanks

ONS

    Hi @ons7001,

Love to hear that you have received your new Gabb Phone 4 Pro. Hope it is treating you well and is a good fit for you and your family.

Good question concerning the Gabb Messenger Parent app. If both the Primary and Guardian contact wish to access the information in the Gabb Messenger Parent app, they will need to log into the app using the Primary contacts username/password. At this time, this is the only option.

*Note that only the primary contact will be notified to safe zones and can communicate with the watch while on Quiet Time.

Your feedback on this topic is valued. We'd love to have you add this to our Feature Idea page for our team to look into for a potential future update. Thank you!

It is frustrating that there can be only one admin account for a Gabb device. Why?

@towangle Sorry for any frustration this has caused. At this time, this is the functionality of the app. We hope to continually improve the features in our Gabb Messenger Parent app to fit each families needs. Thank you for your understanding!

It would be nice if my husband and I were both able to manage contacts and GabbGo.

Agree with the previous comments. Would be great if up to 2 parents could be Primary. Until then, how do you change who the Primary is on the account? Do I need to call Gabb customer service?

Please make it possible for two parents/guardians to manage the Gabb account and devices at the same level of access and permissions. I would expect this is a very very common use case, so please make it a high priority on the development side.

I agree, we are in a blended family and would like the capability to have 4 parents. How are we all able to video chat with our child? It only is allowing the one primary parent to video chat. When the child does choose to video chat a parent it rings on all of our devices? Is that supposed to happen? How do we know who he is attempting to video call if it rings on all 4 devices?

I agree with this thread. We just switched over from another company that was discontinued and immediately ran into this same issue. We are a blended family as well and there is no way I am giving her dad (who lives out of state) a password to anything associated to my accounts. I feel like this can be a fix with different links to the phones IMEI # or something. Would be nice for multiple parents to have the same access without all using the same login.

I concur, it is very annoying only having one listed

My husband works away from home. We have the gabb 4 for both of our kids so we can all video chat together. I tried to set up an account for him so he can access their text, call and locations and also video while he's gone. But it's not allowing that. It would be nice to have one account and add spouse/other parent as authorized user to have the same capabilities as the account owner.

Is there any recent update to address this issue? We just received the Gabb Watch 3 and were so excited…as parents we were quickly disappointed that BOTH parents do not have access to the parental account and controls. Is there a way to at least switch that access from one to another without using the same login?

Can someone please help me understand the downside of two parents just using the same account?

We only have the watch and I want to find a way where my wife and I both have the same capabilities.

Wouldn’t I be able to achieve that if we both used the same account?

I am primary but, I have an Ex husband as guardian. Would be nice if he could text and locate from the gabb app but not have access to all of my info. So at this time I’m not sharing my info.

I would love to have just a video calling option for contacts without having to have the gabb app or have where he can theough the gabb app but not have as much access.I want my daughter to be able to video call her daddy, but I don't want to share my information with him at all ! or have him tracking her every move and looking through all of her stuff any time he wants. I'm trying to show her to be responsible with her phone not micromanage her...

@ReaganKowal do you have an update on this topic? As a new user, I was pretty disappointed to see that two parents cannot have the ability to share the same capabilities without sharing information. Member SOLO had a great idea. Please update us!

    Hi @Sandra_D2020,

Thank you for your comment and question. At this time, our team does not have a scheduled date of when this will be made available. We are aware of the want and need of this feature and hope to make this available in the future.

    Thank you!

Just wanting to continue to say this needs to be a feature. We cannot and won't share login credentials. That's so not a thing anymore.

This feature gap alone will probably lead us to changing products in the near future, but we have to see what else is out there. Just want you to realize that this is not a nicety, but a requirement for some of us.

Wanted to add to this set of comments for Gabb to realize how many of their customers this effects. The fact that all parents cannot have access their childs phone or watch via the messenger app outside of all of them logging in with the same credential and thus missing out on the other features of communicating with your child via the app is a deal breaker for a lot of us. I am a customer that has multiple kids with multiple devices and like most of your customers get many questions about these devices from other parents, and at this point unless this feature gets more attention and is fixed soon, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

    +1 to this enhancement request.

Full admin access for multiple guardians needs to be a priority, since the primary/first user may not always be available. This lack of access creates sporadic usability problems for the parents (the buyer), which degrades confidence in the product overall. But luckily, this is a highly fixable problem! Please prioritize this.

    Thank you.

I too vote that all authorized admins/guardians have unique logins.

Aside from billing and other information security concerns with shared parenting, there's also the need to potentially protect the kids from changes one co-parent may make to the approved apps or worse, geo-fencing.

So beyond the already requested capability of multiple, unique, guardian accounts, I also feel the account "owner" should have control over what other "admins" and "guardians" can and cannot modify. I'd also request that all changes be logged and that history available so we can tell who made the changes and when.

To be honest, I'm brand new to the platform, so I apologize if some of this exists and I'm just not connected, but thank you for listening to your customer base.

It really is ridiculous that both parents can’t be admins. So much so that I’m considering returning both watches we just bought for our kids, which equates to the price of the watches and roughly $30/month.

This is an easy fix, allow multiple admins to a child account. Luckily I can log into my wife’s account, which I did to set up both watches and purchase plans. Just fix this, I see this request goes back to at least the summer of 2024.
